At Henbethau we make our Welsh blanket gifts from beautiful but damaged blankets that are no longer fit for their intended purpose. We will never cut up blankets that are perfect or can be repaired as they are an integral part of our Welsh heritage.

I was born and brought up in one of the Victorian mills that once lined the banks of the river Dulais in Pontarddulais. Although the mill, which produced wool flannel, had long since closed before my parents moved in, the waterwheel was still in situ behind my father’s workshop when I was a teenager.

DSCF0509 20Coming from generations of crafters, I have always had a passion for beautiful handcrafted things. I was taught to knit, crochet and sew by my mother and grandmother and have been crafting with textiles from a very young age. I love the colours and textures of the different styles of blankets which were produced by the many Welsh mills.
Although the concept of Henbethau is to save and upcycle Welsh blankets. my husband and I produce a range of gifts and bespoke items from other materials new and old sourced in and around our Carmarthenshire home.
